A tragic incident unfolded in Tennessee, where law enforcement has apprehended a woman in connection with a murder following the disappearance of another woman.
The alarm was raised when Samantha Goolsby was reported missing by her family on Wednesday around noon. According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, Goolsby had not come home after going out the previous evening.
Just hours later, a local homeowner contacted authorities to report the discovery of a “partially concealed body” near the wood line of their property. Upon arrival, deputies confirmed the grim find matched the description of Goolsby.
Attention quickly turned to 57-year-old Lora Morgan, who was subsequently taken into custody. Morgan reportedly confessed to fatally shooting Goolsby during what has been described as “a domestic dispute” occurring on Tuesday morning.
Details revealed in an affidavit, shared by WSMV, indicate that the altercation between Morgan and Goolsby led to the shooting as Goolsby was attempting to leave Morgan’s residence. In a chilling sequence of events, Morgan allegedly left Goolsby’s body inside for a day before relocating it to the field where it was ultimately discovered.
The affidavit further details Morgan’s confession to cleaning up the scene the following day in a desperate bid to conceal the crime.
Morgan has been charged with first degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and fabricating/tampering with evidence.
She’s being held on a bond of $820,000 with an April 20 court date.
