The boyfriend of a Maryland woman charged with killing her 3-year-old daughter in June was hit with additional charges in her death.
According to WCAU, Cedrick Britten, aged 44, was charged with child abuse on July 3, leading to the death of Nola Dinkins. Britten, who is in a relationship with 31-year-old Darrian Randle, was involved after Randle contacted New Castle, Delaware, police, originally claiming that Dinkins was kidnapped at gunpoint. However, it is alleged that Randle later confessed to beating Dinkins fatally with a belt.
Instead of getting medical assistance for Dinkins, who had stopped breathing, Randle reportedly reached out to Britten. Together, they drove with Dinkins’ body before heading back home.
Allegedly, Randle and Britten placed Dinkins’ body in a suitcase, leaving it on the basement steps overnight. Later, Britten is said to have left the suitcase containing Dinkins’ remains in a park in Perryville, Maryland, and reportedly photographed the suitcase for Randle, as WCAU reported.
Police said Randle ultimately admitted to lying bout her daughter’s abduction. Britten reportedly drew a map of the Maryland park where he allegedly dumped the toddler’s remains. Her body was recovered the following day.
According to WCAU, officials said Dinkins was emaciated and wrapped in Saran Wrap.
In addition to the child abuse charges, Britten was already charged as an accessory to Dinkins’ first- and second-degree murder. Randle was charged with first- and second-degree murder, and first-degree child abuse resulting in the death of a minor under 13. The pair remains jailed without bail.
