Kentucky Man Guns Down Son During ‘Altercation’ in His Mother’s Backyard

A man from Kentucky is facing murder charges following the fatal shooting of his 33-year-old son during a “heated altercation” on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Kentucky State Police, officers responded to a call at a residence where they discovered Jordan Hadley with severe injuries. He was subsequently transported to TJ Sampson Hospital in Glasgow, where he was pronounced deceased.

Initial investigations suggest that Jordan Hadley was engaged in a dispute with his 56-year-old father, Phillip Bruce Hadley. During the conflict, Phillip reportedly pulled a handgun from his waist and fired it, striking Jordan and inflicting fatal wounds, as stated by the KSP.

Phillip Hadley informed police that the altercation was part of a longstanding disagreement with his son, WBKO reported. He claimed that Jordan had pushed him multiple times during Tuesday’s confrontation, asserting, “This is going to end today.” Phillip further explained that, fearing his son was reaching for a gun, he drew his own weapon and fired. He admitted he never actually saw a weapon, only assumed there was one.

Authorities have not confirmed whether a second firearm was recovered at the scene.

Court records indicate that Phillip Hadley’s mother was a witness to the incident, which occurred in her backyard.

Hadley has been charged with murder and is being held without bond.
