On Monday night, a tragic incident unfolded in Florida when a man fatally stabbed his former mental health counselor and injured another person who was in a session with her at the time.
According to reports from Orange County deputies, the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Michael Smith, was discovered deceased by suicide early Tuesday morning, just before 8 a.m., as noted by WESH.
Authorities stated that Smith disrupted a session between his former counselor, 44-year-old Rebecca White, and another client on Monday night. He demanded to speak with White, who instructed him to leave. When the client threatened to call 911, Smith reportedly brandished a knife and launched an attack.
Officers arrived on the scene shortly after 9 p.m. and discovered White critically injured. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries. The other client is in critical condition but is expected to recover following emergency surgery.
