Baby Boy Found Dead in Bathroom Was Killed by Mom in Failed Murder-Suicide Plot

A woman from New York is facing criminal charges following the tragic death of her 15-month-old son on Monday.

Police officers arrived at a residence in Queens to find young Charlie Ramraykha unresponsive, while his mother, 28-year-old Nicole Boodhai, had cuts on her wrists. Boodhai was taken to the hospital and remains in stable condition, yet tragically, her son was declared dead, as reported by KABC.

A neighbor described the harrowing scene to reporters, noting, “The first scream was definitely a man’s, and it was extremely loud and aggressive, followed by what sounded like a child screaming in fear.”

Authorities suspect that Boodhai’s injuries were self-inflicted. Sources informed the New York Post that Boodhai had contacted the child’s father before the police arrived, confessing her actions. It was also indicated that Boodhai and the father were not cohabitating.

According to Gothamist, officials stated there were no signs of trauma on Ramraykha’s body, and he was not found in water. They further noted that Boodhai allegedly used a boxcutter to harm herself.

The New York Times reported that the toddler was discovered unresponsive in the bathroom, where pills were also found. Investigators believe the child may have ingested these pills, although the specific type remains undisclosed.

The medical examiner is conducting additional testing to confirm Ramraykha’s cause and manner of death.

Boodhai is charged with murder and child endangerment. It is unclear when she will be arraigned.
