Felon Stabs Girlfriend to Death 5 Months After He Was Convicted of Domestic Violence on Her

A tragic incident unfolded in Connecticut as a 67-year-old man, already convicted of domestic assault earlier this year, fatally stabbed his girlfriend on Monday night.

Stanley Mulvey contacted emergency services around 7 p.m., confessing to the stabbing of his girlfriend and expressing suicidal intentions, according to a statement from the Stratford Police Department.

Upon arrival, police officers discovered Mulvey lying atop the lifeless body of 62-year-old Megan McShane on the kitchen floor. Both individuals were soaked in blood, and authorities noted a “large kitchen knife” was located nearby.

Despite orders to comply, Mulvey refused to move, prompting officers to physically remove him from McShane’s body and escort him out of the residence. Once detained in a police vehicle, Mulvey voluntarily confessed multiple times to killing McShane.

Mulvey had previously been convicted of domestic assault against McShane in May, raising questions as to why he was not incarcerated at the time of this incident.

The Connecticut Post reports that Mulvey’s criminal history includes a 2010 conviction for two counts of interfering with police officers, stemming from an incident where he threatened officers with a knife during a dispute with an ex-girlfriend.

Mulvey was found not guilty of attempted assault in that case but was sentenced to two years in prison on the interference charge.

This time, police charged him with murder and interfering with a police officer. He’s being held on a $1 million bond and is due in court on Wednesday.
