On a typical Thursday afternoon, Bryce Tate made his usual trip to the gym following a day at school. It was just another day in his routine.
While working out, Bryce received an unexpected text message from a number he didn’t recognize. The sender introduced herself as a junior from a nearby high school, claiming she had noticed Bryce at the gym previously.
The mystery texter mentioned she knew some of Bryce’s friends, who had spoken highly of his basketball talents. She expressed a desire to get to know him, sparking a day-long exchange of flirtatious messages between the two teenagers.
Returning home in high spirits, Bryce continued the conversation with this intriguing new acquaintance. He was also delighted to find it was taco night, eagerly engaging with his parents during dinner.
After helping with dinner cleanup, Bryce decided to head outside for some basketball practice. Yet, his mind remained occupied with thoughts of his new texting companion.
Tragically, at just past 7 p.m., Amanda and Adam Tate were jolted by the alarming sound of a gunshot echoing from Adam’s man cave. Rushing to the scene, they discovered their beloved son had taken his own life. Despite their frantic call to emergency services, Bryce was already gone.
What no one understands is why Bryce would take his own life.
In the 20 minutes before taking his own life, Bryce receives 120 text messages. The messages reveal that Bryce offers the only money he has access to $30. But it isn’t enough.
