Concerned after not hearing from her parents all day, Romy Reiner, daughter of the iconic Hollywood figure Rob Reiner, decides to check on them personally on Sunday.
Arriving at her parents’ Brentwood home around 3:30 p.m., Romy makes the devastating discovery of her parents, Rob and Michele Singer Reiner, lying lifeless. Overcome with alarm, she calls 911, but the emergency responders, upon arrival, find themselves unable to do anything but request assistance from the LAPD.
The authorities promptly initiate a homicide probe. The LAPD officers are dispatched to the scene, located within the West Los Angeles division.
At the residence, they confirm the grim situation: two adults, a man and a woman, have been found deceased. With the aid of the coroner’s office, the identities of the deceased are confirmed as Rob and Michele Reiner.
Rob Reiner was no stranger to the entertainment world, being the son of Carl Reiner, a legendary figure known for creating the beloved Dick Van Dyke Show, and Estelle, a cabaret singer. Rob himself rose to fame with his role in “All in the Family.”
He later married Penny Marshall, famed for “Laverne & Shirley.” Though their marriage ended after a decade, Rob maintained a close relationship with Marshall’s daughter, Tracy Reiner, whom he adopted.
A highly successful actor, Rob Reiner, tries his hand behind the scenes, flourishing in a directing role. Reiner’s directing debut rock band mockumentary,”This is Spinal Tap,” becomes an instant cult classic.
His 1986 film, “Stand By Me,” received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations.
Reiner does it again with the film adaptation of “The Princess Bride,” and again with “When Harry Met Sally,” “Misery,” and “A Few Good Men.”
