A tragic altercation at a North Carolina high school on Tuesday morning resulted in the death of one student and injuries to another.

The authorities have yet to disclose the cause of the altercation or the identities of the students involved. They have urged the community to refrain from sharing, liking, or commenting on videos of the incident that occurred at North Forsyth High School in Winston-Salem, as reported by WXII.

“Those who are distributing or interacting with this video, please consider the insensitivity of such actions,” stated Winston-Salem Police Chief William Penn, Jr. “This isn’t a moment for gaining attention. Our students, educators, and staff at North Forsyth High School need our collective support to put an end to this senseless violence.”

Following the incident, which occurred around 11 a.m., the school was placed on lockdown, as reported by WFMY.

“Today represents every educator’s worst nightmare. We feel the pain when our students suffer, and this is the deepest sorrow we can endure,” expressed Dr. Don Phipps, Superintendent of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools.

While students informed WFMY that the altercation took place in a school bathroom, the police have not yet confirmed this detail.

Although no real information has been released about the stabbing or those involved in the fight, Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough Jr. said in  video message that a student lost “his” life.

Kimbrough said more information would be released in time.
