The Suffolk County Police Department reported the arrest of a 17-year-old male linked to the death of 15-year-old Liam Delemo. Due to the suspect’s age, authorities have not disclosed his identity. He faces charges of second-degree murder as a juvenile. The altercation occurred on November 3rd during a large gathering at a West Babylon residence, which reportedly attracted between 90 and 100 attendees.
According to police, a confrontation erupted around 10:30 p.m., during which the suspect allegedly stabbed Delemo. The injured teen was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Reports from WNBC indicate that Delemo passed away during surgery, just weeks shy of his 16th birthday.
Following the incident, West Babylon High School, where Delemo was a student, delayed its opening a few days later. Support services were made available to help students cope with the loss, as reported by News 12 Long Island.
The suspect, a resident of Syosset in the neighboring Nassau County, was slated for arraignment on Monday at Suffolk County’s First District Court.

In addition to the 17-year-old suspect, the homeowner also faces charges of her own in connection with the fatal stabbing. Bonnie Miranda, 70, the grandmother of the teenager who threw the party, was charged with allegedly breaking Suffolk County’s Social Host Law and endangering the welfare of a child.
