The trial for Dr. Gerhardt Konig, an anesthesiologist from Maui accused of attempted murder, is currently taking place in Honolulu.
The case revolves around differing accounts of an incident on O’ahu’s Pali Puka trail, which happened nearly a year ago. Both sides present contrasting versions of the events that unfolded there.
Arielle alleges that her husband forced her towards the cliff, tried to inject her with an “unknown substance” via syringe, and struck her multiple times on the head with a rock.
In his defense, Konig contends he was not attempting to kill his wife but was instead defending himself after she allegedly attacked him over his threat to reveal her alleged affair with a married colleague.
During the trial, jurors listen to a witness’s 911 call, examine body camera footage from a responding officer, and view photographs showing the severity of Arielle’s injuries.
Additionally, testimony is anticipated from Konig’s adult son, concerning a video call his father made post-incident, which the prosecution claims amounts to a confession.
Arielle Konig is expected to take the stand against her husband next week.
