A Kansas woman was detained by police on Tuesday, over a week following the tragic death of her 4-year-old son, whose injuries suggested possible child abuse.
Reports from KAKE indicate that Tiuri Blunt-Porrata succumbed to his injuries on December 8 after being admitted to the hospital in a critical state. Initially, Daniel Martin, age 34, faced charges of child abuse in connection with Blunt-Porrata’s death. However, ongoing investigations have now implicated the boy’s mother, Tyne Blunt, 27, in the case.
The relationship between Martin and Blunt-Porrata remains unclear. According to Wichita police spokesperson Rick Pena, Martin initially faced child abuse charges while awaiting the autopsy results, which later escalated to include a murder charge.
Authorities claim that Martin’s alleged abuse of Blunt-Porrata spanned from July 1 to December 8, though details remain sparse.
Tyne Blunt is now charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child endangerment, with her bail set at $750,000.
