Landfill Search Underway for Missing Teen Who Is Possibly Being Held Against His Will

A body found at a Minnesota landfill on Saturday is a 16-year-old boy who vanished in May.

According to KIMT, the body of Jordan Collins Jr. was discovered at the Elk River Landfill after authorities initiated a search there in early June. Details regarding the cause of his death have not been revealed.

It was reported that Collins’ remains were located inside a large, 200-by-200-foot trash cell that had a depth of four feet. The Anoka County Sheriff, Brad Wise, shared that surveillance footage from May 13—five days post Collins’ reported disappearance—indicated that his body was placed in a dumpster in Columbia Heights, which was then transported by a garbage truck, as mentioned by Bring Me the News.

Collins was last seen at an apartment in Columbia Heights where he had been staying with his father since mid-April.

Previously, authorities indicated that Collins might have been held against his will. Sheriff Wise mentioned there is a person of interest in the investigation, though their identity has not been released, and no arrests have been made thus far.

When asked whether Collins’ death is being investigated as a murder, Wise quipped, “Well, a dead body wound up in a landfill, so I guess draw your own conclusions.”
