A truck driver has been charged after he allegedly ran from the scene of a three-vehicle crash in Sydney’s west in which an elderly woman and child were injured.

Police had tried to stop the truck, which allegedly had stolen license plates about 6.20pm yesterday on Campbell Hill Road in Chester Hill.

But the truck driver allegedly failed to stop, and officers began pursuing the truck, before callling off the pursuit over safety concerns.

A short time later, CCTV obtained by 9News showed the truck allegedly entering a roundabout at the intersection of Wolumba Street.

The truck allegedly entered the roundabout on the wrong side and collided head-on with a ute and an SUV before rolling onto its side, according to police.

The driver, a 32-year-old man, allegedly ran from the scene of the crash.

He was arrested nearby and taken to Liverpool Hospital for minor injuries and mandatory testing.

An elderly woman and a young child were both injured in the crash and taken to hospital with minor injuries.

After he was released from hospital, the truck driver was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with a string of driving offences, including driving without a license, not stopping for police, and negligent driving.

He was refused bail and was expected to appear before Liverpool Local Court today.
