Authorities are actively searching for two gunmen involved in a drive-by shooting in south-east Queensland, an incident that has left two young individuals injured. The unsettling event unfolded in the early hours at Park Ridge, a suburb within the city of Logan.
Just after 1:20 a.m., emergency services were alerted to the scene following reports of gunfire directed at a residence from a passing vehicle. The attack resulted in an 18-year-old man being rushed to Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he remains in serious but stable condition. A 20-year-old woman also sustained injuries and was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital; fortunately, her injuries are not life-threatening.
The sound of gunshots disrupted the peacefulness of the night, jolting residents from their sleep. Eyewitnesses shared their alarm with 9News, with one resident expressing, “It is scary… you can’t play with these sorts of things like guns… you don’t know where the bullets come from.”
Despite the gravity of the incident, police have assured the community that there is no ongoing threat to public safety. Their investigation continues as they work to apprehend those responsible for this brazen act of violence.
“It is scary … you can’t play with these sort of things like guns … you don’t know where the bullets come from,” one man said.
Police said in a statement there is no current threat to the public.
“Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
“Anyone with information that could assist is urged to contact police.
