Two men charged after allegedly attempting to import $750,000 of cocaine
After border patrol officers suspected both men were internally concealing drugs, they were taken to hospital for treatment under police guard over the weekend.
The men allegedly swallowed the pellets, and had to go to hospital to have them expelled.

The two individuals each expelled 106 pellets believed by police to contain cocaine, making a total of 212 pellets.

These pellets had a combined weight of 2.33 kilograms and are estimated to be worth $757,000 on the street.

Authorities claim that the men ingested the pellets prior to their arrival in Australia to hide the drugs.

As a result, both men have been charged with importing a marketable amount of cocaine.

The men could face life imprisonment if found guilty of the offences.

Conviction could result in a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

Officials highlighted the severe risks involved in attempting to smuggle drugs this way, including the potential for overdose if the pellets burst inside the body.

“The internal secretion of these drugs is an incredibly dangerous practice, with the potential to cause lifelong damage to organs and could prove fatal,” ABF Acting Superintendent Neil Singh said.
