Sydney has been rocked by two separate public shootings overnight, with NSW Police launching investigations into both.
The first set of gunshots were heard on Queen Street in Croydon Park at 8pm yesterday.
A number of gunshots had been fired into a home with several adults and children inside.
Witnesses told police that a person was seen standing in front of the home, before firing two shots from a pistol towards the property.
A 44-year-old man, three women aged 40, 51 and 71, as well as two children aged five and six, were inside at the time.
The man then got into the driver’s seat of a hatchback that was last seen travelling north on Travistock Street.
No one was injured and the incident is believed to be targeted.
In a second unrelated shooting, shots were fired into a unit on Calabria Lane in Prairiewood at 11.25pm.
There was an 80-year-old woman inside the unit at the time. She was not injured.
Investigators believe the shooting was a case of mistaken identity.
A white Ford Ranger was seen in the vicinity at the time.
NSW Police said there is “no evidence” to suggest the shootings are linked.
Anyone with any information, CCTV or dashcam footage relating to either incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
