Anna Maciejewska made her way to the United States from her native Poland to further her studies at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. She already held dual bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and computer science from Warsaw University, focusing on actuarial mathematics.
Anna embarked on a career in finance, initially at ING and subsequently at Voya Financial in West Chester, Pennsylvania. During a skiing excursion, she met Allen Gould, and they quickly formed a strong connection.
After two years of dating, they wed twice within a span of 90 days. Their first ceremony was a civil one in the U.S., followed by a Catholic Mass celebration surrounded by Anna’s family and friends in Warsaw.
Concerns arose among Anna’s colleagues when she stopped communicating and failed to appear at work on April 10. A coworker contacted the State Police to request a welfare check.
An officer was sent to Anna’s home. Upon arrival, he knocked at the front door, and when there was no response, he proceeded to inspect the premises, peering through the windows.
