Police hunt inmate wrongly released from NSW prison

A manhunt is underway in Newcastle, New South Wales, to locate a prisoner who was mistakenly released earlier this week.

Kyle Quayle, aged 35, is serving time for offenses related to theft and assault.

Authorities accidentally released Quayle from a correctional facility on Tuesday, leading the police to issue a warrant for his arrest, as he is now considered unlawfully at large.

It is believed that Quayle remains in the Newcastle vicinity.

In their search efforts, police have distributed a photograph of Quayle to aid in his capture.

Quayle is identified as having an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance, standing at 180 cm tall, with a medium build. He has black hair, brown eyes, and is currently unshaven.
