On Thursday, authorities in Georgia resumed their efforts to locate a woman who disappeared in 2022.
According to Albany police, they are actively searching for 23-year-old Lacambria Toomer, with support from the Criminal Investigations Bureau, Albany Fire Department, Dougherty County EMS, and the District Attorney’s Office. This renewed search effort follows a previous one conducted on November 1.
Toomer was last sighted in Albany in 2022. Although her former partner and the father of her child, Ryan Cooper, also 23, was charged with her murder in 2023, her whereabouts remain unknown.
A year prior to her disappearance, Cooper reportedly assaulted Toomer with a handgun and bit her.
Cooper allegedly informed police that he had last seen Toomer at a Love’s Truck Stop in Cordele, a claim that investigators later found to be false, as reported by WSB-TV.
Investigations revealed that Toomer’s phone was last detected at an abandoned residence in Dawson, roughly 30 minutes from Albany.
Dougherty County district attorney Gregory Edwards previously told WALB that the evidence suggests Toomer was killed in Dougherty County.
Records indicated that Cooper remains jailed on $49,000 bail.
