BOLO: Homicide Investigation Launched as Police Search for Missing Hawaii Woman

Authorities in Hawaii are actively searching for an elderly woman who has been missing for almost two weeks.

The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports that Jacquelyn “Jackie” Glenn, 82, from Kailua-Kona, was last spotted on December 5 at approximately 6:30 a.m. in the 75-200 block of Nani Kailua Dr. in Kailua-Kona. However, some witnesses suggest she disappeared after a card game with friends around 9 a.m. that morning.

Her brother, Chet Glen, indicated that the police have initiated a homicide investigation, though he remained tight-lipped about the details.

“They’ve involved the homicide team. That’s the information I’ve received,” he shared.

Gerry Kahulamu, a friend of Jackie’s, mentioned that both Jackie’s scooter and car were found at her home in the Pier 1 community. Her brother corroborated this, noting that Jackie had left without her cell phone.

“She planned to take the bus to Hilo, which is a lengthy trip,” Chet explained. “It’s convenient as there’s no need for parking, fuel, or driving… though we didn’t discuss it in detail.”

“She was going to take the bus to Hilo. The bus goes to the Hilo side, and it takes all day,’” Chet  said. “But there’s no parking, no gas, no driving. … I did not speak to her about that.”

Chet said that his sister has taken the bus on previous occasions, but only a few occasions.

Kahulamu added that Jackie is in good condition. Others reportedly stated on social media that Jackie has no cognitive issues and does not have dementia.

“I’m 77, and she’s 82, and she’s in better condition than I am,” Kahulamu said. “She’s always got a smile on her face, just a positive person. She’s the sweetest, most loving lady.”

Island News reports that Jackie made mention of visiting Hilo with friends, but didn’t say when she would return.

Due to her age, she is considered endangered.

Jackie Glen is described as standing 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing around 125 pounds. She has brown eyes and curly gray hair, and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a peach-colored shirt and black shoes.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Hawaii Police Department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311. Anonymous tipsters should contact Crime Stoppers at (808) 961-8300.
