Authorities suspect that Nancy Guthrie was forcibly taken from her residence near Tucson, Arizona, last weekend. Sheriff Chris Nanos from Pima County confirmed that DNA tests linked blood found on Guthrie’s doorstep to her.
KOLD reported receiving a related email through social media but chose not to disclose its specifics as the FBI was actively examining the information.
The station was among several media outlets that received purported ransom communications during the week. At least one contained financial demands and cited deadlines for Thursday evening and the subsequent Monday night.
While law enforcement has not confirmed the legitimacy of these letters, they assured that every lead was being pursued with diligence. One letter specifically mentioned Nancy Guthrie’s Apple watch and a distinctive feature of her home.
It has been reported that a camera at Nancy Guthrie’s home was not able to capture images of anyone the day she went missing.
Investigators have found that the home’s doorbell camera was disconnected early on Sunday and that software data recorded movement at the home minutes later. However, Nancy Guthrie did not have an active subscription, so none of the images were able to be recovered.
