The search for an Arizona man who vanished over two years ago remains ongoing, with little progress made in uncovering his whereabouts.

Daniel Robinson, a geologist, mysteriously disappeared after leaving his worksite at a well in Buckeye on June 23, 2021. According to reports, his Jeep was discovered three weeks later, crashed in a ravine less than three miles from where he was last seen.

Despite the recovery of Robinson’s personal belongings from his vehicle, the geologist himself has yet to be found, leaving his family and authorities without closure or answers.

Data from Robinson’s cellphone indicated that he was present at the crash site on the morning of his disappearance. However, a thorough analysis of his personal devices and work computer by the Buckeye and Tempe police departments did not yield any new insights into his disappearance.

The mystery deepens with accounts from Robinson’s father and a co-worker, who reported that he had been behaving unusually prior to vanishing. Robinson had told his father about meeting a woman and falling in love, a detail that adds a layer of complexity to the case.

The woman in question, however, refuted any claims of a relationship. She stated that she had met Robinson less than two weeks before his disappearance, initially through an Instacart delivery he made to her. She recounted inviting him inside while she and a friend were inebriated, but insists no romantic involvement ensued.

The woman said Robinson texted her that he had left something at her home. She said that he began acting “creepy,” showing up to her home unannounced before retrieving the item without her permission. The woman also claimed she texted him, asking him to stop coming unannounced, and he texted “I love you.”

Robinson texted the woman saying he accidentally left something of his there. That’s when the woman says Robinson started acting “creepy” by showing up unannounced and getting his item without her permission.

The woman allegedly texted Robinson about coming to her home unannounced. Robinson responded, “I love you,” and asked if she was at home.

The last text Robinson allegedly sent to the woman read, “The world can get better, but I’ll have to take all the time I can, or we can, whatever to name it. I’ll either see you again or never see you again.”

It’s not clear how long before his disappearance he met the woman, who has not been publicly identified.

Buckeye police said there was no evidence indicating there was a passenger in Robinson’s Jeep. Additionally, they also stated that foul play was not suspected in this case.

Robinson, who was 24 when he vanished, was described as standing 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 165 pounds, and having brown hair and brown eyes. He also is missing part of his right arm, below the elbow.

Anyone with information regarding Robinson’s disappearance or whereabouts is asked to call Buckeye police at 623-349-6411.

Daniel Robinson’s case is being covered as part of Crime Online’s “Finding the Lost: Black and Missing” series, which will feature a missing Black person every day in February. The full series can be read here.
