Cops in Vermont Searching for Woman They Say Let Baby Drown in Bathtub Last Year

Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for a woman accused of leaving her 3-month-old daughter unattended in a bathtub, resulting in the child’s tragic drowning over a year ago.

The search for 34-year-old Briana Arnold has hit a dead end, as police currently have no leads on her whereabouts, as reported by WCAX.

The heartbreaking incident occurred in October 2024. At the time, police discovered narcotics both in Arnold’s system and in her home.

Only recently has a warrant been issued, charging Arnold with manslaughter, child cruelty, and various drug offenses.

Toxicology reports revealed the presence of fentanyl and methadone in Arnold’s bloodstream. Investigators suspect that Arnold left her infant unattended in a filling bathtub, according to WPTZ.

Arnold reportedly alerted emergency services and attempted to perform CPR on her child before paramedics took over upon arrival, as detailed by WVNY.

Authorities say that contacted Arnold on the phone after the warrant was issued, but she is not custody and police don’t know where she is.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Chittenden Unit for Special Investigations at 802-652-6895 or the local police department where she is known to be located.
