Authorities in Virginia are actively searching for a high school football coach who has vanished without a trace. The situation has drawn significant concern as the coach has not been seen for several days.

The Virginia State Police, as reported by FOX News Digital, officially listed Travis Turner, aged 46, as missing on Friday. Turner was last observed on November 20, dressed in gray sweatpants and a gray shirt, and wearing glasses at the time of his disappearance.

Turner, who holds the position of head football coach at Union High School in Big Stone Gap, is now considered a fugitive by law enforcement. This development follows serious allegations that have emerged against him.

According to InsideNova, Turner faces charges of five counts of possession of child pornography, in addition to five counts related to using a computer to solicit a minor. These charges have intensified the urgency of the search effort.

The Virginia State Police’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation attempted to locate Turner at his home in Appalachia last Thursday. Upon their arrival, his wife informed them that Turner was not at the residence. It is believed that he subsequently fled into a nearby wooded area.

In response, police have concentrated their efforts on this vicinity, employing K-9 units and drones to aid in the search. The situation remains fluid as law enforcement continues their efforts to locate Turner.

USA Today reports that the undefeated team headed to playoffs Saturday. The assistant coach, Jay Edwards, stepped in and served in Turner’s place.

Wise County Public Schools said in a statement Friday that an employee at the school is on administrative leave as the investigation into Turner continues. It’s unclear, however, if that employee is Turner.
