Police say the story given to them regarding a missing Virginia boy does not match what they’ve uncovered so far about his disappearance.

“I think that’s self-explanatory. The evidence doesn’t match what we’ve been told. So we need to investigate further,” Hampton Police Chief Mark Talbot during a Tuesday press conference.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, 4-year-old Codi Bigsby was last seen at a home in the 100 block of Ranalet Drive, in Hampton, in the Buckroe Beach neighborhood. The child’s father, Cory Bigbsy, told police that when he woke up, his son was gone. The father added the last time he saw Codi was around 2 a.m. Monday morning.

Codi’s father told investigators he searched for his son inside the home but couldn’t find him. Other children who live in the home were accounted for.

Talbot said police are calling both parents as persons of interest right now and are “most interested” in continuing communication with them. The parents are separated and Codi lives with his father, Talbot said.

Talbot added that Codi most likely wasn’t abducted, as no evidence points toward it.

“The investigation does not indicate that he was abducted. There’s just no reason to believe it. We certainly are open to that as a possibility. It is not likely,” he said.

The FBI is currently assisting in the search.

Anyone with information regarding the case should call the police or the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (1-888-562-5887).
