Why Was Minister Rajendra Balaji Arrested? Rajendra Balaji, who was arrested in Karnataka, served in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 2011 to 2016, representing the Sivakasi constituency.
After being found guilty in a money laundering case, Rajendra Balaji was arrested in Karnataka. He was a member of the Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam political party.

Veteran AIADMK minister Rajendra Balaji, who was trying to hide in a money laundering case, was arrested by police in Karnataka’s Hassan district.
Rajendra Balaji applied for bail in the Chennai High Court before being detained by police but got rejected by the court on December 17.
Following the event, police desperately searched for him while he was away evicting the case. The police had hunted him down after searching for three weeks.
Special forces were deployed to arrest him after disabling his bank account and issuing the look-out notice. The forces were formed under the command of Virudhunagar Crime Branch, Inspector Ganesh Das.
The investigation had lasted more than 20 days in states such as Karnataka and Kerala, along with the cell phone monitoring of his close relatives.

Rajendra Balaji is referred to on Wikipedia as the former AIADMK minister. He is a well-renowned minister of Tamilnadu, who was praised for his scheme of Dairy and milk in the state.
From November 2011 to May 2016, he was the Tamil Nadu Minister for Information and Special Programme Implementation, following the ministry of rural industries from May-August 2016.
On September 25, 2019, Balaji sparked outrage by referring to Congress MP Manickam Tagore as an “ungrateful dog” and urging people to beat him with slippers if he came to vote in Nanguner.
On May 13, 2019, Balaji stirred another controversy when he said, “actor-politician Kamal Hasan’s tongue should be amputated” for claiming Nathuram Godse was a Hindu extremist.

Rajendra Balaji was arrested from Karnataka for the charges of Money laundering and evicting the case after being proven guilty.
Rajendra Balaji, traveling in a car in Bangalore’s Hassan area of Karnataka, was apprehended by police. He was constantly changing addresses and was last known to stay in Tirupattur.
He was in charge of Milk and Dairy Development and accused of taking large sums of money from several people in exchange for promises of jobs at Aavin.
In one case, Sattur resident S. Ravindran claimed that he paid Rs 30 lakh to him, Vijayan Nallathambi, and Mariappan for his relative’s placement at Aavin.
