GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Authorities arrested 31-year-old Lizandra Isabel Borrell early yesterday after she allegedly sent 45 text messages to the victim during the night, forced entry into the victim’s residence, took a smart watch and some keys, and hurled a can of beer at the victim.

According to a report from the Gainesville Police Department, Borrell initiated contact with the victim around 2 a.m. on August 26 through a series of 45 texts. Borrell and the victim, who have reportedly had an intermittent long-distance relationship over several years, were asked by the victim to cease communication.

Later that morning, at approximately 8:55 a.m., Borrell is alleged to have arrived at the victim’s home uninvited. She adjusted some cameras to obscure her car in the driveway and disrupted the internet connection, disabling additional cameras. Using pliers, she allegedly forced a sliding door open, thereby damaging it.

The situation reportedly escalated into an argument, during which Borrell is accused of taking the victim’s smart watch to check messages, suspecting infidelity. During the altercation over the watch, Borrell allegedly threw a beer can at the victim.

A search incident to arrest reportedly produced the victim’s house and car keys in Borrell’s crotch; the victim had not realized they were missing.

During a post-arrest interview, Borrell reportedly claimed she was asked to visit on August 28, but acknowledged she arrived two days ahead and forced open the door. She confessed to taking the watch, rearranging the cameras, throwing the beer, and taking the keys. Borrell stated she formerly possessed a key to the house but did not have one currently, and confessed to contacting the victim from a different number at night.

The officer reported that surveillance video from the victim’s cameras showed Borrell disabling the system and trying to force open the back door.

Charged with stalking, burglary with battery, and petit theft, Borrell has no prior criminal record. Judge Meshon Rawls decided to hold her without bail pending a State Attorney’s office motion to keep her detained until trial. Should the motion be rejected, bail will be determined at a subsequent hearing.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
