Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Yesterday, Kimberly Marie Henry, 43, was taken into custody after an incident involving allegedly throwing a knife at her boyfriend at his place of work, spitting on him, and damaging his phone.

Around 6:51 p.m., an officer from the Gainesville Police Department responded to a call at Steak ‘n Shake (3714 SW 42nd Street). The victim reported that while he was working, Henry tried to take his dog; he managed to retrieve it, but Henry pursued him through the back parking lot, yelling. He stated Henry had a red pocket knife, which she threw at him, and after that, she used a racial slur and spat on him.

The officer reported that there was a red knife on the ground in the parking lot and dried saliva on the victim’s shoulder.

The victim said he put his phone down to wipe the spit off, and Henry grabbed his phone and threw it, breaking the screen.

A witness reportedly told the officer that Henry chased the victim behind the restaurant and threw something at the victim before spitting on him.

According to the officer, Henry, before being read her Miranda rights, admitted to carrying the knife for her protection and acknowledged spitting on the victim, claiming it’s a result of her speaking.

Henry, with an address listed at St. Francis House, faces charges of domestic aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, domestic battery, and property damage. She has four prior non-violent misdemeanor convictions and is currently dealing with a sworn complaint for trespassing after being warned at the Butler Plaza Walmart. Judge George Wright has set bail at $70,000.

Articles concerning arrests rely on reports from law enforcement agencies. Charges specified are derived from the arrest report and/or court records and are merely accusations. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
