A Florida woman found herself in custody after she reportedly used bear spray on a driver as a means to “teach her a lesson” for failing to “wait for a chicken to cross the road” at an intersection — resulting in the chicken being run over and killed, according to police reports.

Cynthia Sosa, aged 38, faces charges of two counts of aggravated battery and one count of burglary with assault or battery related to the July 9 road rage episode, as stated by the Key West Police Department.

Sosa’s arrest report details what happened that day when she came across the other driver on Petronia Street and allegedly exacted her poultry revenge.

“She was stopped in traffic … waiting to let a chicken cross the road, when [the victim] began honking at her and later passed her, running over the chicken,” cops say.

“Cynthia later followed her because she was angry that she killed the chicken. Cynthia later got out of her vehicle and approached [the victim’s] driver’s door, attempting to open it,” the report alleges. “They began fighting over the door. Cynthia wanted to ‘teach her a lesson,’ so she pulled out her bear mace and sprayed it into the vehicle, spraying Perla directly in the face while she was seated inside.”

Cops say Sosa allegedly got back into her car and drove off. Her vehicle, a Toyota Corolla bearing Florida tags, was later spotted and pulled over. Sosa was taken into custody and promptly charged.

According to her arrest report, authorities and medics were called to the scene to check out the woman and a passenger who was with her. The victim told cops that she “was on her way to pick up her child from daycare” when Sosa allegedly set upon her after stopping and blocking the roadway.

“[The victim] later got around the car and proceeded to her destination while the black vehicle followed her,” the report says. “Once [the victim] was approaching the intersection of Emma St. and Olivia St., the black vehicle jumped in front of [the victim’s car].”

Sosa was taken into custody and booked by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. She is scheduled to be arraigned on July 24.
