A 9-year-old boy from Louisiana is on the road to recovery after a distressing incident in which he was allegedly shot intentionally by his 10-year-old friend. The shooting took place a month ago, leaving the young victim, Tre’Michael, with severe injuries.

According to Tre’Michael’s mother, Lakisha Ledguies, the incident occurred on December 6 while her son was at a friend’s house in Alexandria. Initially, the Alexandria Police Department categorized the shooting as “accidental.” However, once Tre’Michael was able to communicate, he reportedly informed his mother that his friend had “shot me on purpose.”

In response to the boy’s statement, authorities have charged the 10-year-old with aggravated second-degree battery and juvenile possession of a handgun. Due to his age, the identity of the accused remains undisclosed, and he is currently held at the Renaissance Home for Youth.

The police have yet to disclose how the young boy came into possession of the firearm used in the incident, leaving an unsettling question lingering over this tragic event.

The aftermath of the shooting has been severe for Tre’Michael. According to a GoFundMe page set up by his uncle to assist with mounting hospital expenses, the young boy suffered the loss of his right kidney, half of his left lung, and sustained extensive damage to his intestines as a result of the bullet.

The boy’s uncle said in a GoFundMe set up to help defray his considerable hospital costs that he “lost his right kidney, half of his left lung, and his intestines were shattered by the bullet.”

The uncle, Courtney Blake, said Tre’Michael was released from the hospital just before Christmas to continue his recovery at home.
