Authorities in California have detained a 22-year-old mother following concerns raised by the child’s grandmother about visible bruises on her toddler. The arrest took place on Sunday.
According to Barstow Police, the grandmother noticed the marks after collecting the 2-year-old from his mother, identified as Lillian Roxanne Nunez-Arvizu, during a custody handover. She promptly informed the police, who attempted to track down Nunez-Arvizu but initially could not locate her.
Detectives then took over the case, as the police department explained. They verified the injuries, ensured the child was in a safe environment with his father, interviewed Nunez-Arvizu, and gathered further evidence.
Subsequently, Nunez-Arvizu was charged with felony child endangerment and taken to the High Desert Detention Center in San Bernardino County.
The authorities have not disclosed additional details regarding the incident.
