Emanuel Celedon, a 35-year-old Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer, is accused of grave crimes in the indictment that was returned on November 28.

Celedon is charged with two counts of bribery, two counts of attempted cocaine importation, and two counts of witness bribery.

These charges raise serious questions about corruption and possible drug trafficking within a crucial border enforcement capacity.

The charges lay out a troubling timeline, claiming that Celedon took American money from October 1–17 in return for allowing someone to enter the country through the Laredo Port of Entry. 

Surprisingly, the indictment makes the shocking claim that Celedon accepted a second bribe for the same actions between October 23 and October 30.

There could be severe legal repercussions for Celedon. He could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000 if found guilty of the bribery charges.
