The Phoenicia Malta was a favourite of the late Queen Elizabeth II, with its art deco interiors, private gardens, seaside views and historic Grand Ballroom.

Matthew certainly saw the magic in the location, as the guitarist popped the question to Delta in the hotel’s seven-acre garden while accompanied by a string quartet.

The pair relived the happy memory during their wedding week in June as they stayed at The Phoenicia Malta throughout the celebration.

Delta even entrusted her 14.5kg couture Paolo Sebastian bridal gown to the hotel to safeguard ahead of her nuptials.

She then spent the morning of her wedding getting ready at the hotel as wedding planner Sarah Young, Palazzo Parisio and WonderEvents helped organise the event.

Delta also ended her wedding week at the award-winning destination with a sentimental, sunset photo of her family and friends in the landscaped gardens.

‘The team at The Phoenicia Malta made it feel like home,’ Delta later shared.

‘We captured this photo outside the hotel, with all the beautiful team at the hotel waving us off.’

The location proved to be especially significant for the musician, as Matthew proposed to Delta on the grounds of the five-star heritage hotel in 2023

‘Thank you to everyone for making our special week even more special,’ she finished.

Enya Stellini, the Events Manager at The Phoenicia Malta, said it was an ‘honour’ to host Delta and Matthew during the momentous occasion.

‘It has been an honour to support Delta and Matthew from the very beginning,’ she said.

‘Their story reflects everything we strive to offer couples—beauty, intimacy and a sense of occasion rooted in Malta’s vibrant history.

‘Their celebration was a reminder of how personal destination weddings can be, and why Malta continues to attract couples from all over the world for their big day and beyond.’

Delta shared a first look at her ‘fairytale’ wedding with Vogue Australia is July.

The blushing bride stunned in an off-the-shoulder wedding gown with a racy sweetheart neckline designed by South Australian fashion designer Paul Vasileff, founder of Paolo Sebastian.

The French tulle gown featured gorgeous lattice detailing and a two-and-a-half metre train.

Delta said she worked with the designer over three months to create a gown that felt ‘super personal and very special’.

‘Paul and I connected the second I got engaged, and we started working together immediately,’ Delta told Vogue of the couture creation.

The gown, which took around 500 hours to make and weighed 14.5kg, included nods to the couple’s romance, including their wedding date, a pair of swans and cherubs, embroidered into the fabric.

Delta and Matthew exchanged vows in the historic St. Paul’s Cathedral in Mdina, which was built in the 12th century.

The reception then took place at Naxxar’s Palazzo Parisio, an estate with exquisite gardens that was constructed in the 18th century.

Guests at the ultra-private wedding reportedly received detailed schedules months in advance, with the celebration marking the culmination of a two-year planning process.

The wedding was a lavish multi-day celebration attended by the couple’s nearest and dearest.

‘June 2025, Husband and Wife. It was more magical than we both could have dreamed,’ Delta wrote in an emotional caption on Instagram at the time.

‘We said I do under the Maltese skies in a family fairytale wedding brought to life by so many angels surrounding us.

‘We are holding on to every memory from that moment, the love, the laughter, the happy tears and dancing till the sun came up.’
