Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has refuted rumors surrounding Bruno Fernandes‘s potential move to Real Madrid, affirming that the midfielder is not on the market.
The Spanish giants are reportedly preparing a £90 million bid for the United captain, but Amorim has made his stance clear.
“He’s not going anywhere because I’ve already told him,” he said ahead of United’s clash with Nottingham Forest.
Despite ongoing financial challenges at Old Trafford, Amorim remains adamant about keeping Fernandes.
United’s part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has introduced cost-saving strategies, including staff reductions, and is contemplating player trades to meet Premier League financial guidelines.
Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho could be sacrificed, with their sales potentially generating over £100 million in pure profit.
Fernandes, 30, signed a new contract in August 2023, extending his stay until 2027, with an option for another year.
He recently admitted he had offers to leave last summer but stayed after discussing his future with the club.
“I had a conversation with the club as I received an offer to depart. I inquired if they still considered me a part of their future,” he mentioned.
Since Amorim’s arrival, Fernandes has contributed eight goals and nine assists, including a hat-trick against Real Sociedad in the Europa League.
Meanwhile, the futures of Marcus Rashford and Antony, both on loan, remain uncertain despite their recent strong performances.
