Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have sparked curiosity once again with their interactions on the red carpet.

The stars, both set to appear in “Wicked: For Good,” have previously caught attention with their unusual exchanges during promotions for the first “Wicked” film. Now, a new clip has emerged ahead of the second film’s release, adding to the intrigue.

The latest video, captured during their promotional tour for the first movie, shows Erivo, 38, pausing an interview to spend an extended period adjusting Grande’s, 32, diamond necklace.

Fans were quick to note that there appeared to be ‘nothing wrong’ with the necklace initially, with some labeling the moment as ‘ridiculous.’

As Erivo, who recently intervened when a fan approached Grande on the red carpet, begins to twist the necklace, Grande remarks, “something is bothering her, she’s going to fix something. I know her.”

Erivo apologizes, saying, “I’m so sorry,” as she continues to fiddle with the necklace, insisting that something isn’t quite right.

‘She’s getting the fixing itch that Cynthia Erivo gets,’ Grande says, as Erivo twists the necklace all the way around to show the clasp, before turning it around again.

Grande then says ‘thank you’ as Erivo continues to move the diamonds around.

The interviewer then starts asking another question, and Grande laughs as an undeterred Erivo keeps trying to fix the necklace.

‘Girl okay there was nothing wrong with her necklace to be doing all that,’ one person on Reddit shared.

‘She literally turned it the wrong way and back to where it was just so she could be more involved in the interview.’

‘She actually messed it up,’ someone else claimed.

‘It would be more authentic if she did this off camera (considering there was absolutely no reason to fix it),’ another added.

‘cynthia made the positioning of the necklace worse than before lmao. and even then the necklace was fine.’

‘It is so crazy how she fixed nothing.’

‘This was so weird like why.’

Grande and Erivo both attended the 16th Governors Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Grande wowed in a delicate one-shoulder pale pink vintage Dior gown designed by John Galliano.

The star wore her tresses in a chic updo.

Erivo rocked a unique Givenchy coat dress with a dramatic fringe trim.

It comes after the two were recently mocked for gushing over each other’s ‘auras’ in yet another over-the-top exchange.

During the Wicked: For Good premiere in Paris on Friday, the pop star and Oscar-nominated actress were asked to describe each other’s ‘auras’ by an Elle magazine journalist.

Ariana said Cynthia’s was ‘yellow,’ like ‘sunshine.’ She added, ‘I think there’s also purple.’

Cynthia then said about Ariana: ‘I see, like a ciel blue, you know? Like aqua. And like, sunset-orange.’

Following the red carpet moment, one person wrote on Reddit, ‘I can’t go through this again,’ in reference to the movie stars’ previous ‘cringeworthy’ press run moments last year.

And earlier this week, Erivo broke her silence on their viral ‘holding space’ interview.

The moment saw the pair discussing Wicked’s closing number, Defying Gravity, with journalist Tracy E. Gilchrist for Out Magazine – who claimed fans were ‘taking the lyrics’ and ‘really holding space with that’.

In the original clip, Cynthia put a hand over her chest while looking shocked and replied: ‘I didn’t know that was happening. That’s really powerful. That’s what I wanted.’

Now, Cynthia has addressed the moment as she posed for a stunning GQ shoot, and revealed it was purely ‘an innocent moment of confusion and human reaction’.

She said: ‘I received one thing, Ari received another, and Tracy [the journalist] said something but probably meant to say something else, and then took back the thing that she was saying – it was all so confusing, so that all of us were, in the end, confused but… moved. It was very strange.’

Cynthia also revealed that people now come up to her in public and ask to hold her finger – which she does not enjoy.

‘I hate it,’ Cynthia said. ‘I don’t want anyone holding my finger.’

It’s been a tough week for Grande, who reportedly went into a ‘PTSD spiral’ after she was ambushed by a crazed man while walking the red carpet on Thursday.

At the Singapore premiere of her new movie Wicked: For Good, Grande’s co-star Erivo and an army of bodyguards were forced to step in as the man jumped a barrier and grabbed hold of the diminutive singer-turned-actress.

Johnson Wen, who goes by the creepy pseudonym ‘Pyjama Man’ and proudly boasts on Instagram that he is the ‘troll most hated’, posted a string of pictures and videos before and after his attack on Grande.

In one particularly unhinged clip, he laughs maniacally as he describes his plan to ‘meet’ his ‘best friend’ Grande, adding that he has been ‘dreaming about’ the moment.

It is understood that Grande’s security will now be ramped up even further, with some eyebrows having been raised over the fact Erivo – herself a vulnerable celebrity – was the first to jump to Grande’s defense before bodyguards were able to reach her.
