There’s buzz in the air about Ariana Grande working on a new studio album, inciting excitement among fans after she teased them with studio photos. The pop sensation, known for her powerful vocals and chart-topping hits, last released a solo album in 2024, titled “Eternal Sunshine,” which featured the wildly popular track “Yes, And?”.

Since that release, Grande has been primarily focused on her acting career, particularly her role in the two-part adaptation of “Wicked.” Her performance, alongside co-star Cynthia Erivo, has garnered significant praise from both fans and critics.

In a surprising move last November, Grande announced that her anticipated arena tour for “Eternal Sunshine” would be her last for the time being, leaving many fans disappointed. However, she recently rekindled excitement by sharing a series of Instagram photos showing her in a recording studio, sparking speculation about new music.

According to insiders close to the singer, the secretive project hinted at in her social media posts is indeed her eighth studio album. This revelation, reported by TMZ, has thrilled her dedicated fan base, who eagerly await her next musical chapter.

However she reignited her admirers’ hopes for the next steps of her career by posting an Instagram carousel Wednesday filled with photos of her in the studio.

Now insiders have revealed that the mystery project she was recording is in fact her eighth and next complete studio album, according to TMZ.

The photos in her Instagram post showed her sitting at a soundboard and at a computer as well as crooning into a microphone.

One photo showed her perched in a chair with the soundboard behind her, beaming and throwing her hands up in the air in apparent celebration of a job well done.

Fans flooded into the comments to share their enthusiasm, including no less than Grande’s fellow pop act Lizzo, who exclaimed: ‘Yes, please!’

When she announced her tour retirement in November, she explained that her pop career had ‘taken over’ her life she was finally learning to prioritize other passions.

She insisted she would ‘give it her all’ during the tour, which she characterized as ‘one last hurrah’ before she steps back from international touring.

Speaking on the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast, the Wicked star said: ‘I’m very excited to do this small tour. But I think it might not happen again for a long, long, long, long time.

‘I’m going to give it my all, and it’s going to be beautiful, and I’m so grateful. I think that’s why I’m doing it. Because I’m like, one last hurrah. For now.’

Grande, who released her chart-topping album Eternal Sunshine in March 2024, is set to embark on her first major tour in seven years in June, performing across the US and Canada before bringing the show to the O2 Arena in London for 10 nights.

The singer admitted in November her decision to step back from touring comes after finally recognizing how consumed she became by her pop career.

‘That’s something that is learned over time,’ she explained. ‘For me, when I came into all of this, and my pop career sort of took over my life in a way, I didn’t have that at all.’

She added: ‘I just am feeling a lot more connected to myself and my art since I started doing different things.

‘I spent so much time only doing pop music, but I grew up as a girl who loved musical theatre and comedy, so I think the thing that will be best for my soul and for my art is chasing things that feel very right in the moment, even if it’s spontaneous and something different.’

Grande has increasingly pivoted towards acting in recent years, most notably starring as Glinda in the Hollywood adaptation of Wicked.

She is currently filming Fockers In-Law, the next instalment in the Meet the Parents franchise alongside Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro.

‘It’s a role that I read the script [for] and I love it and it’s funny and I love the cast and I’m so excited,’ she said.

‘And then I’m going to do a small stint of shows next year because that is something that authentically sounded good to me.

‘And then from there, there are other things that are different, and I think following those authentic impulses feels like a really good idea, like a good thing.’

The actress-singer first rose to fame as a teenager on Nickelodeon, playing Cat Valentine in Victorious from 2010 to 2013 before reprising the role in Sam & Cat.

She went on to become one of the world’s biggest pop stars, releasing seven studio albums, earning seven UK No.1 singles, breaking multiple streaming records and winning two Grammy Awards.

But Grande now says the next decade of her life will look very different from the whirlwind rise that defined her twenties.

‘I feel very privileged and grateful to have learned that there can be room for different creative endeavors,’ she reflected.

‘I think it will change a lot. I think the last 10 or 15 years will look very different to the ones that are coming up.’
