Arsenal broke their 14-year curse of being stuck in the Champions League last-16 by defeating Porto in a tense penalty shootout.

The Gunners’ victory came after a 1-1 draw on aggregate, with David Raya’s magic gloves in goal proving crucial.

The match was a slow-burning affair filled with high stakes and tension.

Despite a strong effort from Porto, who where unyielding, Arsenal managed to hold their nerve.

Leandro Trossard’s first-half goal cancelled out Porto’s lead from the first leg, but the visitors wouldn’t go down without a fight at the Emirates Stadium.

The scoreline took the game to extra time and later to penalties.

In the shootout, Raya’s saves from Wendell and Galeno sealed Arsenal’s passage into the quarter-finals.

The win is particularly important to their fans who had waited patiently for a Champions League knockout victory.
