Lily Collins has sparked controversy among some fans who argue she isn’t the right fit for her upcoming role in the Audrey Hepburn biopic.

On Monday, the 36-year-old actress, known for her role in Emily In Paris, revealed she would portray the iconic Hollywood legend in a film centered around the creation of the 1961 classic, Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

One critic expressed their disappointment on X, questioning, “Really? Was there no one better suited for this role? It just feels off.”

Another user commented, “Sharing similar eyebrows doesn’t equate to sharing the same essence,” highlighting the actresses’ striking resemblance.

Under the handle @azmy1136913, the commenter elaborated, “While Audrey embodied grace and depth, Lily Collins exudes a distinctly Emily in Paris vibe.”

They added, “Relying on physical similarity instead of genuine talent is a disservice. Audrey’s legacy warrants more than just a doppelgänger.”

Someone else argued that Ariana Grande would have been a better fit: ‘This should’ve been Ariana. Noooooo.’

The upcoming not-yet-titled film is based on Sam Wasson’s book Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast At Tiffany’s And The Dawn Of The Modern Woman.

The book is credited as the first complete account of the making of one of Audrey’s most famous films.

A skeptic asked, ‘Is there something specifically interesting or exceptional about the making of Breakfast At Tiffany’s?

‘I mean, I’ve only ever heard the story that Capote wanted Monroe to star and that hardly sounds like enough material for a movie script?’

‘It’s with almost 10 years of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey that I’m finally able to share this,’ Collins wrote in an Instagram caption this week.

She shared a snapshot of Hepburn in character as Holly Golightly, as well as a screenshot of a Deadline news article.

Collins added, ‘Honored and ecstatic don’t begin to express how I feel…’

‘She wasn’t a star because of only her look, she had that “Je ne sais quoi” that only a couple of stars every couple of decades have.’

Someone tacked on, ‘I literally stopped watching Emily in Paris because the idea that all these men would be so taken by her was so incredibly unbelievable.’
