In the unfolding drama surrounding Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden, details about his past relationship with former fiancée Jo Kinghorn have surfaced, painting a less-than-flattering picture of The Golden Bachelor. Reports suggest that Bear wasn’t exactly the toast of the town among Kinghorn’s circle of friends.

Recently, Woman’s Day disclosed that the 61-year-old Myrden, who had been portraying himself as single since the loss of his wife Audrey in 2014, was actually engaged to Jo Kinghorn, a millionaire heiress. This revelation has raised eyebrows among fans of the show.

Adding to the intrigue, a source who was present at their 2016 engagement party shared insights into their tumultuous relationship, noting that Kinghorn’s friends often referred to Bear as a ‘tosser.’

The source recounted to Daily Mail Australia that Bear spent much of the engagement celebration flaunting a ski boat gifted to him by Jo. His behavior didn’t stop there; he reportedly mingled a bit too enthusiastically with the female guests, leaving the male attendees unimpressed.

Moreover, the insider revealed that Bear’s lack of contribution towards Kinghorn’s engagement ring further strained perceptions of him among her friends.

What’s more, according to the insider, Bear didn’t cough up for Kinghorn’s engagement ring.

‘It should be known that the engagement ring was purchased by the bride-to-be,’ the source claimed.

On Monday, it was revealed by Woman’s Day that Bear was engaged to Kinghorn after his wife Audrey died.

Kinghorn fell ‘madly in love’ with the keen sailor after meeting the Canadian widower in 2012.

A friend of Kinghorn told the publication that Bear’s claims about his love life on the show have left her and her friends ‘gobsmacked’.

For not only had the pair been engaged and lived together, but Kinghorn even stepped into the ‘step-mum’ role with Bear’s three young boys – Charlie, Jack and Declan.

‘She really opened her heart to them and dedicated her life to them – and they adored her,’ Jo’s friend revealed.

However, as soon as money started playing a major role in their relationship, things seemed to go downhill for the couple.

On Monday, it was revealed by the publication that Bear had been engaged to a Sydney nanny from a wealthy family, who fell 'madly in love' with him after meeting the Canadian widower in 2012

Kinghorn is a millionaire heiress. Her father founded Allco Financial Services and RAMS Home Loans and has been featured on the Aussie Rich List.

Bear seemingly lived the good life with Kinghorn, who hired a full-time nanny for his children so that she and the engineer could travel the world together.

What’s more, she even bought him a warehouse with a million-dollar price tag, which Bear transformed into a ‘man cave’.

‘I know for a fact that she was paying for almost everything in the last three years they were together because Barry quit his job,’ the friend added.

The publication revealed that when the pair got engaged in 2016, Bear and his three kids moved into Kinghorn’s $6 million home in Manly.

However, just two years later, the couple called it quits on their relationship in what was dubbed as an ‘acrimonious’ split by the insider.

‘There were lawyers called in and they spent a whole day in mediation before it was settled,’ Kinghorn’s pal revealed to Woman’s Day, adding that Bear even asked her to return the diamond solitaire engagement ring.

While Bear kept his house and Kinghorn kept hers, she eventually sold the Manly abode because of ‘bad memories’.
