Benson Boone, the 23-year-old singer-songwriter, unexpectedly pulled the plug on his Birmingham concert just under an hour before he was slated to perform on Saturday.
Currently on his American Heart World Tour, Boone had recently delivered a performance in Glasgow on Thursday.
Scheduled to appear in Birmingham on Saturday evening, Boone took to Instagram shortly before the show to announce his inability to perform at the Utilita Arena due to illness.
Boone explained that he was experiencing throat issues, which left his voice unfit for the performance.
He assured his Birmingham audience that he is collaborating with his team to arrange a new date for the concert.
In his message, Boone expressed, “Birmingham, I am deeply sorry but I am unable to perform tonight. Despite all efforts to restore my voice, I cannot deliver the show I want to with my current throat condition.”

The Daily Mail has contacted Benson’s representatives for comment.
It comes days after Benson showed off the results of his recent workouts in a jaw-dropping shirtless ‘thirst trap’ shared to Instagram on Thursday.

Benson, from Monroe, Washington, discovered his singing ability at 17 after a friend encouraged him to enter their high school’s battle of the bands.
In 2021, he appeared on American Idol, impressing both the audience and the judges.
He told them he had only realised he could sing the year before, but his performance earned a standing ovation from Lionel Richie and Katy Perry.
Katy said she could see him winning the competition, while Richie described him as a ‘natural talent.’
Benson reached the top 24 before withdrawing from the show.
He later said he was concerned about being typecast as ‘the American Idol kid’ and wanted to build his music career independently.
Since then, he has gained popularity on TikTok, where his videos—featuring music, acrobatics, and piano performances—have attracted a large following.
His track Beautiful Things has been used in over four million TikTok videos.
