The United States men’s national team is in advanced talks to play Brazil in a friendly ahead of the Copa America next year, according to a report.

The USA will host the Copa America from June 19 to July 14 and will play as one six guest nations for the South American tournament.

And the Stars and Stripes will be getting some of the best preparation possible for South America’s championship in facing nine-time champion Brazil.

The proposed plan is for the USMNT to face the five-time World Cup winners in Orlando, even if the city is chosen as one of the host venues for the Copa America, between June 3 and 11.

Conmebol announced the venues for the opening game and the final last month, with the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta playing host to the first match and Hard Rock Stadium in Miami wrapping up the tournament.

However, the other venues for the 48th edition of the world’s oldest national team tournament have yet to be revealed.

The US qualified for the Copa America last month, despite a 2-1 loss to Trinidad and Tobago, winning 4-2 on aggregate.

The USA is set to open its 2024 schedule with an exhibition against Slovenia on January 20 in San Antonio.

They then play Jamaica on March 21 at Arlington, Texas, in the semifinals of the Concacaf Nations League and faces Mexico or Panama three days later in the championship or third-place game.

Meanwhile, Brazil is hopeful it will have Carlo Ancelotti at the helm for the Copa America with the team increasingly confident that it will be able to lure the manager away from Real Madrid at the end of the season, following the Champions League final on June 1.
