A recent update has been provided regarding the cause of death for Robin Kaye, an American Idol music producer, and her husband, Thomas Deluca. The details emerge over a month after they were fatally shot by an intruder in their home.

Death certificates obtained by People reveal the couple both passed as a result of multiple gunshot wounds sustained on July 10 at around 4:45PM.

Insights from the death certificates clarify their tragic end, showing that Deluca died almost instantly from his injuries, while Kaye survived only a few minutes longer after being shot. 

Both Deluca and Kaye have homicide listed as their manner of death.

Although their passing occurred days prior, official records list their date and time of death as July 14 at 4:14 PM, marking when authorities discovered their bodies.

Kaye and Deluca, both 70, have had autopsies conducted on them, and the procedures were used in ascertaining their cause of death, People notes. 

According to People, the initial death certificate for Kaye, dated July 23, inexplicably noted the absence of an autopsy. This error was rectified with a correction filed on August 4. 

Kaye and Deluca were cremated on July 23.

The couple were shot execution-style in the head in their $4.5million home on July 10. 

They were gunned down by a callous intruder who used the victims’ own weapon that they had for self-defense.

Despite a 911 call being made by a neighbor at 4 PM on the day of the incident to report the intruder, the couple’s bodies were not found in their gated mansion on White Oak Avenue until July 14. This discovery came after concerned family members requested a welfare check.

Suspect Raymond Boodarian, 22, was arrested by lawmen, with weapons drawn, the following day at the nearby rented Reseda townhome he shared with his mother and sister.

Murder suspect Boodarian has a history of mental illness, court records show. He has been charged with two counts of murder as well as other offenses in relation to the deaths.  

‘The victims returned home while the suspect had gained entry into the residence, and a confrontation ensued, which resulted in the suspect taking their lives,’ authorities previously said, according to People. ‘The victims succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, and the suspect fled from the residence on foot.’

Officials previously said the killings looked to be random, with no connection found between the suspect and the couple, according to People.

Boodarian has a criminal history, according to People. 

An arraignment hearing was held on August 20 at a Van Nuys courtroom, but it was suspended by Judge Martin L. Herscovitz after Boodarian failed multiple times to respond to him, according to People.

‘One more time. Mr. Boodarian? Mr. Boodarian, can you hear me?’ the judge asked Boodarian during the hearing, according to The Hollywood Reporter. ‘Let the record reflect that he’s still staring out into space and not responding to the court’s questions.’ 

Nancy Kolocotronis, who is serving as Boodarian’s public defender, said during the hearing that her client is allegedly suicidal. He arrived to the courtroom wearing a suicide gown.

Boodarian is now set to appear at a mental health court in Hollywood on September 3.

The judge said the suspect’s arraignment will boil down to an evaluation of Boodarian’s mental fitness. He said he didn’t think proceeding without the involvement of the suspect would be ‘fair.’

Boodarian remains behind bars without bail. 

Kaye worked as the music supervisor for singing competition American Idol for the last 15 seasons – nearly 300 episodes – per her IMDB page.

Over the years, she won several Guild of Music Supervisors Awards for her work on the show.

She also worked on Lip Sync Battle, Hollywood Game Night and Worn Stories, among other shows.
