Celebrity MasterChef viewers were left in stitches last night as Strictly star Oti Mabuse mispronounced ‘cumin’.

The dancer, 29, partnered with fellow contestant Dame Sandra Rhodes at London Zoo on the BBC show last night. During their task, she was preparing a marinated chicken dish for the zookeepers when she made an error.

While detailing the spices she included in the chicken, she mentioned using ‘cumin’ but mispronounced it, leading many to hear it as something inappropriate.

Hundreds of fans of the show took to Twitter to comment on the way she said the word, with one even joking, ‘I think I’ll avoid the chicken.’

When Oti was explaining what spices she put in she said that she had added 'cumin' - but she pronounced it in the wrong way - which sounded a little x-rated

It was the second night for the celebrity wannabe chefs – as they took to professional kitchens and worked in teams of two to provide food for staff at London Zoo.

Oti and Sandra decided on a chicken dish and you see her add in spices and marinate the chicken, before she turned to the camera and said: ‘I’ve kind of used a lot of spices so we want to make it feel really full of flavours.

‘So I’ve put some cumin, I’ve put some Thai sauces, and I’ve put tumeric.

‘I put salt, I put pepper, and a lot of oil just to keep the moisture in so that it doesn’t dry.’

However Oti pronounced the spice the American way – calling it ‘c**-in’. The correct way to say it in the UK pronunciation is “cue-min”.

Fans of the show found it hilarious, with saying: ‘She say cummin? She meant cumin, yh?

One more said: ‘I beg your pardon @OtiMabuse – you put what in the chicken?’

While another said that they were going with another choice of food: ‘Unfortunate choice of filling for the chicken Oti….I’m going for the Thai curry now.’

Fans of the show found it hilarious, joking that they may not eat her chicken with her 'different' sort of spice

Despite the mishap the chicken went down well with the zoo keepers, with one calling it 'spot on' when it was served with cous cous and salad

While one thought that her special spices may be a bit too much: ‘Think I’ll skip Oti’s special spices on her chicken this time round if that’s okay. Thanks!’

While the judges even said they were impressed with their ‘batch cooking skills’ and said that the ‘flavours were superb.’
