There was intense competition for the most revealing dress on the red carpet at the VMAs, but RnB star Ciara definitely ranked among the most daring.

The 27-year-old looked beautiful in a jewelled and feathered dress that was otherwise almost completely sheer.

The design had a Brazilian carnival feel to it as well as elements of the Indian sub-continent.

Luckily the gorgeous embelishments on the dress managed to keep the singer’s modesty.

Despite appearing to be sleveless, the dress actually had sleeves all the way down the singer’s arms with the jewelled design covering her fingers.

At the bottom, the gown petered off into feathers that dragged along the ground elegantly.

The singer wisely kept her hair and make-up simple and understated so as to not detract from the dress.

Ciara, who made her debut in 2004 as a 19-year-old with the hit single Goodies, has recently launched a new album and appears to be staging a comeback.

The singer attended the event with her rapper boyfriend Future.

The two have been dating since early this year and the singer is said to have a tattoo of his name on one of her fingers.
