The true crime-focused Clue Awards is currently accepting submissions for its 2025 ceremony, and for the first time will honor a scripted TV program as part of its honors.
The awards, which recognize true crime works in various mediums ranging from television to podcasts to publishing, occur September 6 as part of the three-day CrimeCon. event The ceremony and CrimeCon will be held at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center in Aurora, Colo.
Submissions are eligible if the works premiered between April 1, 2024 and May 30, 2025. The awards are offering a discounted price for early submissions through May 16, and the regular deadline is set for June 20. Late submissions can be made until June 30. The nominations announcement will occur between July and August.
The awards categories include outstanding episodic series and outstanding docuseries in TV, as well as outstanding episodic series and outstanding docuseries in podcasting. Other lanes include true crime book of the year and outstanding documentary film.
Previously, the Clue Awards categories only included unscripted media, before adding the scripted series category in TV this year.
Last year’s award recipients included the Netflix documentary “Cyberbunker: The Criminal Underworld” for the outstanding documentary film category, Dateline NBC episode “The Murdaugh Murders: Inside the Investigation” for outstanding docuseries and Hulu series “Me Hereafter” for outstanding episodic series.
An independent group made up of true crime creators, producers and executives selects the nominees and winners. Last year’s group featured industry professionals from NBCUniversal, Simon & Schuster and Campfire Studios among other companies.
Red Seat Ventures produces CrimeCon, which first started in 2017 and includes panels and speaker sessions dedicated to true crime.
