Dustin from Stranger Things joins the cast of Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway. As the fourth season of Stranger Things approaches, series star Gaten Matarazzo joins the Broadway cast of the critically acclaimed musical Dear Evan Hansen.
Gaten Matarazzo, who starred in Stranger Things, has been cast in the Broadway revival of Dear Evan Hansen. Matarazzo is most recognised for his role as the affable Dustin Henderson on Netflix’s Stranger Things, but he has also had a number of famous Broadway roles. Matarazzo, who is now 19 years old, began his acting career on Broadway in 2011 in the production of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. In the 2014 production of Les Misérables, he played Gavroche, a favourite character.
Matarazzo is set to join the cast of Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway, according to THR. The Stranger Things star will portray Jared Kleinman, a friend of protagonist Evan Hansen (Zachary Noah Piser), who will be played by Zachary Noah Piser. Piser will be the first Asian-American actor to play Dear Evan Hansen, which was initially performed on Broadway in 2015 by Ben Platt. Dear Evan Hansen, directed by Matarazzo, will premiere on July 19. Matarazzo comments on his new role:
Gaten Matarazzo is correct about the Stranger Things spinoff Dustin/Steve.
Matarazzo’s return to Broadway will delight his fans as well. Dear Evan Hansen was one of the most successful and praised musicals of the decade, earning the Tony Award for Best Musical and continually selling out performances even after Platt departed the group. Matarazzo’s addition to the cast of Dear Evan Hansen gives him a new platform to showcase his abilities, and with Stranger Things season 4 premiering this Friday, fans will have two very different ways to interact with the actor in 2022.
