The hit reality series, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, currently dominates television ratings, but it may soon experience significant changes within its cast lineup.
Among those possibly departing are Taylor Frankie Paul and Whitney Leavitt, two of the show’s most prominent personalities, who might be leaving by year’s end.
Taylor Frankie Paul’s potential departure follows her involvement in a domestic dispute scandal with Dakota Mortensen, which resulted in ABC canceling her upcoming season of The Bachelorette just before its scheduled debut.
The network’s decision came after shocking video footage showed Paul physically assaulting Mortensen in front of her daughter, during a domestic altercation in 2023.
This incident led to her arrest, with charges filed against her for assault, criminal mischief, and domestic violence in the presence of a child.
Although the fifth season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is already in production, filming was suddenly paused earlier this week due to another domestic violence investigation involving Paul and Mortensen, who are parents to a one-year-old son named Ever.

As a result, cast member Mikayla Matthews confirmed that she and the rest of the cast have decided to hit ‘pause’ on filming the new season.
‘It was a decision that all of us girls came up with and agreed on,’ she shared on Instagram on Thursday.
‘We didn’t feel comfortable filming with everything that was happening.’
In an interview with Good Morning America on Wednesday, which was recorded just one day before ABC pulled the plug on The Bachelorette, Paul hinted that her future on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is now uncertain in the wake of her latest scandal.
When asked on Good Morning America where she stands with The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives moving forward, Paul said, ‘It’s hard to say now, right?’
She continued, ‘Just given everything going on. It’s hard to see past this, in this moment, it’s really heavy.’
Since that interview, Mortensen has filed a restraining order against Paul and is demanding sole custody of their son, according to TMZ.
Paul isn’t the only cast member whose future on the show is uncertain.
Demi Engemann quit the series at the beginning of season four and has boasted about having new projects in the pipeline
Engemann was noticeably absent from promotional material for season four, despite appearing in several episodes
Demi Engemann quit the series at the beginning of season four after she was accused of cheating on her husband Brett with Vanderpump Villa star Marciano Brunette.
Brunette has since filed a defamation lawsuit against Engemann and the show’s production company over what he called ‘false accusations of sexual assault’.
Speaking to TMZ after her exit from the series, Engemann said, ‘I will always be the girl that walks away for my peace, my mental health.’
The 31-year-old said that she’s ‘taken a step back’ from MomTok for now, but added that she has two new projects in the pipeline.
Meanwhile, Whitney Leavitt has also teased her own exit from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
The 32-year-old was the villain in the show’s first two seasons, but has since become a fan favorite and a bankable star outside of the series.
She was one of the standout contestants on the last season of Dancing with the Stars, which was the most watched instalment of the competition series in almost a decade.
From there, she landed the role of Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway, which has shattered box office records.

Paul’s potential exit of course comes off the back of her domestic dispute scandal with Dakota Mortensen, which led to ABC cancelling her season of The Bachelorette
Leavitt’s Broadway run has achieved the highest ticket sales in the show’s 29-year history and producers have already extended her contract to keep up with demand.
She’s also starring in an upcoming holiday film, which she is executive producing.
Given her busy schedule, it’s no surprise that Leavitt is now hinting that she may exit her Hulu series sooner rather than later.
‘I wouldn’t be where I am without The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,’ she told The Hollywood Reporter last week.
‘But it feels like it’s time to challenge myself in other ways and fulfill these dreams and passions that I’ve been trying to get even before the show,’ she continued.
‘I’m figuring it out in real time. But it feels like that’s the trajectory of where it’s going.’
Leavitt is currently represented by Gersh, the same agency that took former Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix to the A-list after she became a pop culture phenomenon when her boyfriend Tom Sandoval cheated on her.
The fourth season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives recently premiered on Hulu, and the fifth season is already in production.
Although filming has been paused in the wake of Paul and Mortensen’s domestic violence scandal, Variety previously reported that production would resume ‘soon’.
However, given the growing magnitude of Paul’s situation and the cast’s apparent unwillingness to film with her right now, it’s unclear when cameras will actually go back up.
