Benson Boone’s American Heart tour got off to a very memorable start on Friday night, but not entirely for the reasons the singer might have hoped.
The 23-year-old ex-American Idol participant kicked off his tour at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, where his intricate stage design swiftly became the buzz on social media.
As Boone strutted across the platform, fans couldn’t help but notice its striking, and unfortunate, resemblance to something below the belt.
‘Um. Why’s it that shaped,’ one fan asked bluntly.
‘Are y’all thinking what I’m thinking?’ another chimed in.
‘It’s giving ball sack,’ several users agreed.

Others speculated the design choice may have been deliberate.
One amused observer noted: ‘This went through several stages of approval before being built, by the way.’
In an interview with Elle, the Beautiful Things singer said his show will be ‘the most thought-out show I’ve ever played.’
‘I’ve spent the last six months thinking and planning every song—what’s going to be on the screens, what I’m going to be doing, and what I’m going to be wearing,’ he said. ‘It’s a whole world that I’ve built in my head. I’m really excited for people to see it.’
Boone, who often wears very tight and sparking outfits, has admitted he has been inspired by 70s and 80s pop stars such as Freddie Mercury and Elton John.
In a chat with Interview magazine, the Hello Love singer commented on how the nickname for his fans could be construed as a double entendre.
‘There’s a lot of people that just call themselves The Booners, which is close to something different,’ he said, adding, ‘Nevermind.’
The singer’s road to stardom has been nothing short of extraordinary.

The Monroe, WA native has said he discovered his voice when a friend asked him to play the piano and sing in a battle of the bands contest during his junior year of high school.
From there, he began posting videos on TikTok, which led to a contract in 2021 with Night Street Records, owned by Imagine Dragons singer Dan Reynolds.
His first single, Ghost Town, was released soon after, peaking at number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Other hits, such as In The Stars and Better Alone, soon followed.

One fan pointed out it may have been intentional

In May 2024, he was introduced to the Swifties, when Taylor Swift invited him to perform for three nights in London.
‘I believe that everyone on earth has a really solid skill,’ he told Interview, ‘at least one thing you’re really good at, at least one thing you can find passion in.’
He advised his fans looking for their nice to ‘find that thing and just figure out a way to make it your job because if you do what you love every day, it is the coolest thing. And I’m very lucky to be able to do that.’
Boone’s current American Heart tour is a 33-date North American run that is scheduled to end in October 2025.
