If you loved the Fear Street movies in 2021, there’s good news for you: A new installment titled Fear Street: Prom Queen has begun streaming on Netflix since Friday.

Helmed by director Matt Palmer and co-written with Donald McLeary, Fear Street: Prom Queen is a fresh addition to the franchise, drawn from the R.L. Stine Fear Street book series. The new cast includes India Fowler as Lori Granger, a senior at Shadyside High in 1988, aiming to win the Prom Queen title to restore her family’s reputation. Lori’s main rival is the notoriously mean Tiffany (played by Fina Strazza) and her group of followers. However, the race for the crown turns deadly when a masked killer begins targeting the Prom Queen hopefuls one by one.

Those who stayed for the Fear Street: Prom Queen mid-credits scene know that the movie hints at future Fear Street films. Continue reading to discover what is currently known about Fear Street: Prom Queen sequels, as well as other forthcoming Fear Street movies.

Will there be a Fear Street: Prom Queen sequel?

As of now, there are no official plans for a Fear Street: Prom Queen sequel movie with the same cast.

When asked in an interview with Decider whether she’d talked to Netflix about coming back for a sequel, star India Fowler replied, “At the moment, I don’t know. I know as much as you do. My heart’s with that film. I love everyone who was involved, and I love the Fear Street universe. It would be interesting to see what they could do with it.”

Earlier this year, author R.L. Stine told The Hollywood Reporter that at least three more Fear Street movies were in development. “The writers are working,” Stine said. “So I’ve got my fingers crossed.”

However, Stine did not clarify which stories were being adapted, whether the Fear Street movies were being written for Netflix, or whether they would be connected to the 2021 Fear Street movies. Another one of Stine’s stories, Goosebumps: The Vanishing, was recently adapted as a Disney+ series, so there’s no guarantee that these possible three upcoming Fear Street films would connect to the Netflix films. “In development” is a very loose term in the industry, that often doesn’t result in movies getting made.

However, if Fear Street: Prom Queen is a hit for Netflix, we have a feeling the streamer would fight for the rights for more Fear Street movies. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
